    Have you tried copying the data to an external drive and shipping it off to your parents or to a good friend? It's a cheap way to get offsite backup. Sure, the data set won't be up to date, but you can buy another drive, and when you're about to visit your parents/friends, you copy your data to that new drive and swap it with your old drive.

    I tried these companies that offer you unlimited backup, but there's always a catch, whether it's in a bandwidth cap, so it takes forever to upload the data, or in the restore process, which isn't a complete set of the data you lost, etc. Be careful with that.

    There's also another piece of software that you buy (so you own it), and once it's installed on two computers that are geographically separated, it'll let you initiate a backup session from one to the other, which means that you could back up your data on your parents' computer and vice versa. I forgot the name of it, sorry. Wish I could remember it now, because I'd like to try it myself.

    I used to keep a backup on an external hard drive that I left at home while the computer was in the office. I did this once a week or so. I've fallen out of the habit, but it is a good suggestion. I really should do that and leave it at my parents house.
    There is a program, Crashplan I believe, that allows for backup to another computer in another location but it's not that feasible. The use of backblaze is really as a backup of last resort. My hope is that I never have to call on them to provide me with a restore but it's better to have as many options as possible. The program runs quietly in the background and they have no cap on the upload. One friend was getting 30+ gb per day, I'm getting about 10.
